This new work by interdisciplinary artist Ash Keatingis an
intensely personal exploration of loss and connection to place. It
is a collaboration between Keating and film maker Jonnie Leahy.
Different from Keating's site-specific projects that often raise
awareness of environmental issues, A New Lifelong
Landscape explores a more personal relationship between the
artist and hius environment.
Keating describes the work as "a painterly study through video,
exploring and coming to terms with the landscape surrounding the
edge of the road in Thorpdale South where my mother lost her
life.
"Making sense and peace with this place through my art is part
of the grieving process and a signifier of the beginning of a
lifelong relationship with this place within the Gippsland
landscape."
