Next Gen 2012: VCE Art and Design

Next Gen is an annual project of the Art Gallery of Ballarat which showcases a selection of the work of students from Ballarat and the region who have studied VCE art and design subjects the previous year.

For Next Gen 2012, a large number of submissions from a very broad geographical area has resulted in an exceptional range of visual art and design work which shows the diversity within contemporary arts and gives insights into the ways young people view and interact with their world.

The exhibition includes drawing, painting, sculpture, fashion and textiles, printmaking, photography and film, together with exciting hybrid artworks which combine a number of media often fused with digital technologies, providing different aspects of the craftsmanship and attention to detail, creative and critical thinking, problem solving and openness to other cultures and ways of interpreting the world that is required of these young artists.
