Sunday, June 26, 2011,
Ten contemporary artists and designers share their vision of the
rich, layered histories of Victoria's Western District which is
distinguished by the basalt rocks erupting from the landscape
forming Stony Rises, as well as volcanic cones and crater lakes.
The exhibition focuses on the histories of the area, the
intricate relationships of people with place, foreigners on new
lands, and colonial and Indigenous narratives.
The Stony Rises Project is a project of NETS Victoria, the
peak body for visual arts touring in the state of Victoria which
provides opportunities for regional communities to access and
engage with the best contemporary art, craft and design.
