YoungArts Artists Register

The Gallery runs regular After School and School Holiday Programs for which artists are engaged under short term contracts.Occasionally the Gallery will also engage artists to work with school students during school visits.

The Art Gallery of Ballarat maintains a register of artists who are interested in working with primary and secondary school age students for the Gallery's YoungArts program. Artists in a range of disciplines including both visual and performing arts living or working within the Ballarat region are invited to lodge submissions to be included on the register.

To apply, artists need to demonstrate interest and any experience in working with school students within your field of artistic practice, have an ABN and have or be prepared to gain Working With Children Clearance. You need to submit an Expression of Interest consisting of a one A4 page statement outlining your skills, experience or expertise, a one A4 page summary of examples of creative projects that you might develop to work with students at the Gallery, up to 8 examples in relevant media of your work and a CV, including two professional referees.

Ideally artists should give examples of a single one-hour workshop, a single two-hour workshop and a workshop series of 10 one-hour workshops.

Being placed on the YoungArts Register does not guarantee that you will be engaged to work with students at the Gallery but it ensures that the Gallery has your details and a summary of your arts practice when selecting artists who will be contracted.
