Lindsay Family Gallery
The Gallery has a long association with
the Lindsay family of Creswick - five of the 10 children of Dr
Robert Lindsay and his wife Jane went on to become well-recognised
artists.
The Lindsay children regularly visited
the Gallery with their grandfather and the Gallery had a
significant influence on their later careers.
In 1966, Mary Lindsay, the last of the
family to live in Creswick, bequeathed a collection of family
material to the Gallery, as well as funds to acquire more Lindsay
artworks. The bequest included Lindsay artworks, photographs and
papers as well as the contents of the Creswick drawing room. The
drawing room of the house has been recreated in the Gallery - a
condition of the bequest.
