Tours
Guided Tours, Wednesdays to Sundays @ 2pm
The Gallery has a strong, active and vibrant group of volunteer
guides who offer free guided tours around the Gallery collections
five days a week and all public holidays. They also offer tours for
booked groups and tours of many of the temporary
exhibitions.
Nothing makes a visit to Art Gallery of Ballarat more enjoyable
than spending time with our highly trained voluntary Gallery
Guides. Their love of the Gallery and its collection together with
their enthusiasm and knowledge will give you greater insight into
the development of Australian art. Groups by prior arrangement.
Our Gallery Guides can help your group to enjoy the Gallery if
you let us know that you are planning to visit. Contact the Gallery at
least two weeks prior to your visit to arrange your group's guided
tour.
iPod tours
iPod tours are available for a number of the galleries which
display the collection. They provide insights to the collection -
how it developed, its significance to Ballarat and the Australian
Art scene, and the cultural background for each of the eras
represented in the different galleries.
We encourage you to take up this unique experience. Ask one of
our Gallery staff for more information.
Special Interest by arrangement
Tours can be organised for groups with special interest in a
particular area of the Gallery's collection. Contact the reception
at the Art Gallery of Ballarat (03) 5320 5858. Groups with a
special adult educational interests are welcome.
Student Tours
Tours can be built around your curriculum guidelines and your
student's interests. With prior arrangement, your students can go
behind the scenes to find out how a gallery works or gain access to
work not on exhibition. For more details go to the education
pages.
